2009 Competition Information
If you are interested in competing in 2009, please review the Competition Document. There you will find information on the competition rules, regulations, judging criteria and logistics. Also included is information on the starting order for the preliminary rounds. PLEASE NOTE: THIS INFO IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The competition format will more or less be the same as previous year's, except that there will be no re-belay for the finals this year. Updated rules will be provided at the meetings prior to competing. This years prelim route will be held under the Upper Bridge and the finals route will be under the lower bridge. Both routes have colored quickdraws and signs posted that these are the competition routes. Avoid climbing in these areas so you can avoid being dis-qualified! The 2009 Ouray Ice Festival mixed-climbing competition qualifying rounds will be held January TBD, 2009; the final will be Saturday January TBD, 2009. The competition will again be leash-less and spur-less, and is open to any member of the Ouray Ice Park; you must be a member to compete. To join, go to http://www.ourayicepark.com/membership.php. The competition is an entirely open event; no byes will be offered into the finals. You must qualify to compete in the final. If applications exceed capacity for the qualifying rounds, competitors will be selected based upon their qualifications and experience.
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 7, 2008. Applications received after that date will not be considered. Notification will be provided to you on December 14, 2008, as your acceptance, and your starting day and time.
